…oh and another thing… Jonty’s brilliant winning season could also be construed as a “cold blooded” pursuiit of victories. Its very hard to get it right. Winning games still feels like a very modern VCC phenomenon to this Curryman veteran. The fact that we are not losing half of our games is about right for a wandering side with no pitch etc. The side has improved dramatically in the past 6 years, and we compete realy well in most games, and have become too strong for one or two of our fixtures. But we are still capable of losing badly even when we put out a strong team ..(Matfield?) … As for Madness chasing Jonty’s record…. why not? Baci da Crouch End … xx

What a curious melange of whistful lyricism interspersed with cantankerous bile. I was absent so can only deduce that Ben captained intelligently, (and bowled superbly,) whilst Rob and Chris batted the Currymen to an easy victory. The Xiles are a annoying bug that needs an annual swatting. Agree with you about Rooky tho…

I couldn’t agree more Cobra, to all VCC rebels – England needs you , and if its a 20/20 showdown we are seeking in sunnier shores, lets have a best of three 1st XI v’s 2nd XI showdown of the VCC!

As a stay behind, following the AGM-approved VCC fixture list by turning out v Barnes at the weekend, I would pose the following question: Who are the Real VCC? The glory-seeking La Manga GATTING REBEL XI, who chose to ride roughshod over pre-determined match dates, or the so-called ‘2nd’s’ who fulfilled the club’s long-standing obligations in the UK?
